Marketing and Communications Intern – Spring/Summer 2018

Rise Asset Development is looking for a creative self-starter to join our small team this summer as Marketing and Communications Intern. We’re looking for a driven, ambitious individual who wants to create a career in marketing and social media and gain valuable work experience in a charitable social enterprise. We provide extensive training, guidance and support, as well as the opportunity to experience the industry from the inside and gain valuable work experience.

Rise Asset Development is a registered charity that provides low-interest small business loans, training and mentorship to individuals with a history of mental health and addictions challenges. Founded as a partnership between the Rotman School of Management and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Rise services are available in several locations in Ontario. Rise employs entrepreneurship as a pathway to better health outcomes and quality of life for these individuals.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Take over content creation for all of our company social media accounts, including organizing cross-platform content strategies

· Develop new marketing and social media campaigns from the ground up, considering our clients’ needs and their specific industries, and our goal to expand Rise operations outside Ontario.

· Monitor social channels for trending news, ideas and memes, then capitalize on those trends through our social media accounts

· Assist with capturing and analyzing basic social media metrics

· Review marketing collateral and make recommendations

· Assist with planning for events and campaigns

Requirements

Familiarity with social media strategies and platforms

Ability to multi-task and take initiative

Hardworking and dedicated outlook

Independent, decisive worker, with the ability to take direction and absorb information quickly

Lived experience with a mental health or addiction challenge is an asset

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, you must meet ALL criteria:

· have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;

· be under 30 years of age at the start of the employment;

· be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act2; and,

· be legally entitled to work in Canada
